Django

Overview

Django is a Python web framework that comes with the parts most apps need already built in: a database layer, user accounts, an admin panel and strong security defaults.

How I Use Django

I build the back end of my apps with Django and Django REST Framework. It holds the business logic, stores the data in PostgreSQL and serves it to web and mobile apps through a REST API.

Every request is checked against the user’s role, so people only see what they’re allowed to. Slow work, like sending emails and texts or building reports, runs in the background with Celery and Redis, so pages stay fast. I write tests with Django’s test framework and run them before every deploy.

Why Django

Security is built in: protection against common attacks such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting and forged requests is on by default. It’s mature and well documented, so projects are easy to maintain and hand over. And because it’s Python, it connects easily to data and AI tools.
