Overview
The public website for Functional Skills UK, where learners find a course, check if they are eligible for funding, pick a date and pay online. I rebuilt it from WordPress in Next.js and Django, and I run it end to end: hosting, updates, tracking and fixes.
The Problem
The old WordPress site couldn’t sell courses online, and it wasn’t connected to Flow, the platform the company runs its courses and exams on.
The Solution
A new site with a Next.js frontend and a Django backend. Course pages pull live dates and places from Flow, learners pay through Stripe, and once a payment goes through they are booked into Flow automatically and sent an invoice. Visitors come from organic search, Google Ads and Facebook Ads, and every sale is recorded in Google Analytics.

Key Features
Online Payments
Learners pay for courses online with Stripe, in full or in three with Klarna, and get a PDF invoice by email.
Live Course Dates
Course and exam dates come straight from Flow, with the places left, so they are always current.
Automatic Enrolment
Once a payment goes through, the learner is booked into Flow automatically. No one has to re-type their details.
Eligibility Checker
Learners enter their postcode to see if they qualify for a funded course, using the government's funding data.
Search and Ads Tracking
Server-rendered pages and a sitemap for organic search, with Google Analytics recording every course sale and Google Ads tracking set up.
Hosting and Upkeep
Docker on AWS behind Nginx, deployed automatically from GitHub, with error monitoring and a UK cookie banner.
